a forest of sails

Jannis Kounellis' forest of sails (description stolen from the Biennale guide) in the great turbine hall on Cockatoo Island. If you have not been to the Biennale as yet, you have one week to see it.

My recommendations would be Cockatoo Island in general, hearing the sound instllation at Pier 2/3 Walsh Bay (we love the Canadians!) and the sex pistol grannies at the MCA. The grannies are simply the most purely lovely thing I have seen for some time.

Vacation

I'm also longing for a holiday, perhaps in New York. Perhaps a permanent holiday, again perhaps in New York.

The Polish in Thailand

I suppose I should not generalise too much about Polish breakfast cuisine, as my knowledge of of such is limited to TKT and his family. It appears to me that TKT and my new relations tend to head for sea creatures for the first meal of the day if presented with such an opportunity. But you are thinking surely, hopefully, most Poles head for their beautiful pastries at breakfast time?

On our travels in Thailand I spied TKT with a breakfast concoction that I believe only he could have dreamed up. The lack of availability of roll mops and herrings left him with the following....

That is right friends, sweet and sour fish on top of two beautifully poached eggs. The above picture is not intended to harm the innocent, who should avert their eyes, but as evidence of a crime against food.

Trial date is pending.
